Wellington Wine Walk
This three or four day hiking trail through the beautiful Wellington valley in the Winelands of the Western Cape – 75 km from Cape Town, South Africa – takes you through indigenous fynbos, vineyards, orchards and olive groves. If you love the outdoors, wine tasting and you love to walk, we have superb holiday options for you.

Enjoy hiking with a difference. All you carry is a light day-pack and we transport your luggage to the next stop. Walk at an easy pace and enjoy the scenery as you discover hidden treasures. Stop and taste the Wellington wines, cheeses and olives produced in this fertile valley. Local guides, fully accredited and well versed in the history and culture of the area, will accompany you.

At the end of each day we provide comfortable accommodation in four different guest houses on historic Huguenot farms, each offering traditional Cape cuisine. Groups of 6 to 8 (maximum 12) persons sharing are preferred, although we do accommodate individual hikers. As the Wellington bowl experiences extreme heat during summer, we operate these walking tours from March through to November.

Bontebok Ridge Reserve
• Experience a game drive through unique fynbos in the heart of the Cape Winelands, at Bontebok Ridge Reserve, courtesy of the hospitable Turner family, who have farmed in the Agter-Groenberg area for three generations.

• Bontebok Ridge offers a rare opportunity to appreciate a variety of wildlife, including herds of Bontebok (found exclusively in the Cape), Eland, Wildebeest, Red Hartebeest, Springbok, Grey Rhebok, and other indigenous species, in their natural habitat. The reserve is also part of a unique Quagga-breeding project. In addition, a great number of bird species, from the small Cisticola to the amazing African Fish Eagle, can be seen. The majestic mountains add to the rugged appeal of this pristine Renosterveld.

• After a leisurely 1½ hour drive through the reserve on an open Landrover, visitors can relax, unwind and enjoy sundowners and homegrown organic snacks (e.g. venison and fresh farm breads) at the lapa overlooking the picturesque dam, until it’s time to return to reality.
